In this example you can see the huge difference it makes to do the resizing manually. Image #2 is a 3:2 and was simply uploaded to IG while image #1 is the same image converted into a square by me. The difference is noticeable, the image that was manually resized contains all the elements of the original composition and as a result is going to perform much better on Instagram.
In the examples below you can see the original images on the left and the Instagram-ready images on the right. You’ll notice that in all cases, the elements of the composition stay pretty much the same plus the images now perfectly fit the Instagram ratios and there won’t be any bad surprises as in image #2 above.
